Phil Shaper

Phil began playing his guitar and singing as a teenager in the hey day of the 70’s rock bands and great acoustic artistes of those times.

Within a few years he had progressed to gigging as a solo artiste and in eclectic live bands with friends. As time moved on he emulated the Beatles and ended up in Hamburg and Berlin playing in and around the vibrant music scenes there for many years.

Back in London, Phil formed more bands and found himself working in recording studios.

Moving to Spain, Phil worked for several seasons in a duo called the V.I.P’s. When the duo split up, he decided to go solo now free to choose his own repertoire allowing him to decide which songs suit the audience to either let them listen to his great guitar work, vocals and even playing a harmonica.

His repertoire consists of countless hit classics, ballads, rock and roll, blues and standards that no audience would go away happy without hearing.

Friday 19th February at 9.30

Paul Schrager

Here we have a versatile vocalist who entertains audiences all over the Costa Blanca.

Paul performs hits such as Home, When you say nothing, The air that I breathe, Me & Mrs. Jones, Kingston Town, Quando Quando, Love is in the air, Dancing in the moonlight, Abracadabra, Rollercoaster, Johnny B Goode, Great balls of fire, Forever in blue jeans, to list just a few. His music ranges from ballads to fast tempo rock n roll and motown.

This Nottingham boy interacts with the audience producing a fun and totally enjoyable experience for all. His music will appeal to all age groups.

So for a good selection of lively music for dancing or easy listening music, Paul will deliver.

Friday 26th February at 9.30

Mick Manion

Mick came to Spain 6 years ago and has worked constantly either as a solo artiste or in bands.

His solo work sees two totally different sides of him.  He has created a laid back programme ideally suited for restaurants or lounges playing great classics by the Eagles, James Taylor or Chris Rhea.  Not an overpowering performance which suits diners.  Then we have Mick Manion, the rocker.  Especially designed for venues that have an audience where his superb guitar playing excites and gets the blood rushing.  His voice resembles Joe Cocker and has a sensual appeal.

Mick is one of the few guitarists who actually plays his guitar throughout every song, not just a strummer.

He was the founder guitarist in the Cut Loose Band and was with PDQ for almost two years, both well respected bands locally.

Frankie Jones

Frankie arrived on the Costa Blanca in 2005 from West Yorkshire and has become one of the coasts most versatile performers.

Formally trained at one of the UK's music colleges , he spent the early part of his life playing classical music but he soon found he enjoyed playing popular music even more.

A career with Roland took him all over the UK as a demonstrator of the company’s vast range of keyboards, so you can well imagine that his keyboard it top of the range.

Frankie sings songs from 60’s and 70’s predominately including some good old rock and roll, ballads and music from the charts.  He is also a member of London Pride, cockney band and occasionally joins All That Jazz playing traditional jazz.

This extremely popular entertainer is well suited for any type of venue or function.

Woody one of the most popular singer/guitarists on the Costa Blanca is looking a bit different these days, that’s because in his brand new ‘Glam Rock Show’ he gets to pay his own special tribute to all the major stars from the glam rock era of the seventies.

The show has Woody taking us through 7 different authentic ‘seventies’ costume changes which took his mum 6 months to make as he takes us down memory lane to the hits of  Sweet, Mud, Alvin Stardust, Rubettes, Sailor, Bay City Rollers, Slade and finally Marc Bolan and T Rex.

You won’t see this show done by anyone else on the Costa Blanca so if you loved the seventies then get yourself down to see this fantastic show when it comes toThe show has taken 18 months to come to fruition and it’s been well worth the wait, what started as a labour of love with Woody hard at work on the computer at his home in Dolores putting the backing tracks together for all the songs has turned into a fantastic one and a half hour non stop very visual sound and lighting show.

We went to see Shirelle for the first time at the Hillside Sports Centre on La Marina urbanisation last Friday (29th January 2010), and had a fantastic evening. 
Shirelle is most definitely one of the best female artistes that I have seen.  Not only does she have the most amazing voice and sings a great variety of songs, of which the audience participation was really good when she did a spot of **The Good-old Sing-a-long songs**, she is also an excellent Saxophone player - what a unique entertainer.  I, personally, love to hear the saxophone being played so professionally. 
A very good night was had by all at the Hillside Sports Centre on Friday and the floor was packed with people enjoying dancing to Shirelle.
Well done Hillside on finding Shirelle and the week before Hot Ice.  Hillside have some more new Acts appearing each Friday evening, so why not come along ??
